SEVERAL SUNDAYS

Culkin

Release date:
28/04/2012

Hailing from Stockholm, Culkin could be considered the ultimate homage to the indie-rock outfits of the late 80s early 90s: the Sonic Youths, Rides, My Bloody Valentines and Hüsker Düs of that era. Cutting their teeth in KVLR and Ellis the Vacuum Child, Culkin does the world a favor by reminding us that, today, rock music is best served unkempt, fuzzed out and loud-as-fxxk (preferably).

Growing up under the neobritish pop-invasion of the mid 90s, and heavily influenced by the Swedish bands of that era as well as digging around their vinyl for those hard-to-find Creation maxis while playing in hardcore bands, four-some Culkin attempt to balance earnestness and melody with distortion and noise-assault. Polar opposites to many, same thing in the ears of Mathias Rask-Andersen, Joel Borg, Pontus Wallin and Jonas Eriksson Slove.
